Washoku School Lunch Programme: passing on traditional food culture and values to children who lead the future of our food

30/09/2021

Washoku, or traditional Japanese food, is derived from the respect for nature that Japan has inherited from ancient customs. Our mission is to teach traditional Japanese food culture to the children who will inherit it and lead the future of our food.

This video introduces the initiative created by The Washoku Kyusyoku Oh-endan, which aims to advocate for retaining and continuing traditional food culture and values through the school lunch programme.

Through engaging with various sectors including farmers, Japanese chefs, the government, Japanese food manufactures, nutritionists, school boards, and parents and guardians, the Washoku Kyusyoku Oh-endan, successfully established the educational platform, “Washoku School Lunch Project”, which is sustainable and geared towards the difficulties that each party has.
